Springing from a circular base and a steel tube is an inverted root system of a small tree.  Intertwined in the roots are welded tubes and strips of steel fashioned into an abstract metal face.  The eyes have no pupils and are thus sightless.

 Meaning:

When a plant is contained in a pot that is too small, the root system often begins to twist and twine in upon itself because there isn’t room for the roots to grow.  Often people are content to be satisfied with their lives and are unwilling to move beyond self-imposed borders—resulting in a narrow, selfish and self-centered point of view.
